Employee Spotlight – Manny Singh

We have some pretty impressive employees here at Datacubed Healthꟷfrom marathon runners to musicians — we have some eclectic folks in our Datacubed family. And our new Employee Spotlight series aims to highlight the talented individuals that work here. Each month we’ll be featuring a Datacubed employee so that you can learn more about the brilliant minds behind our company.

For our second Employee Spotlight, we spoke with our Senior QA Engineer and Scrum Master, Manny Singh.

Would you please explain your role at Datacubed Health?
I am the Senior QA Engineer and Scrum Master, where I lead the QA and Automation team. I work cross-functionally with the Project, Design, Science, and Product teams. My role focuses on ensuring that everything runs smoothly for all our products. I also serve and lead tech teams through our immediate development work. That consists of removing any impediments, tracking our metrics, reporting to stakeholders, facilitating various Scrum meetings, and ensuring that we follow through on our commitments for each sprint while enforcing the best industrial standard SDLC (software development lifecycle) practices.

How did you land at Datacubed Health? Can you tell us more about your career journey?
I began my career journey by first working at a major financial firm in Delaware, but being a “New Yorker,” I was looking for my options to move back to New York. Luckily, one of my friends had reached out to me for a position at a creative agency where I was responsible for setting up their whole QA architecture. While working there, I wore several different hats and usually found myself as a bridge between the managerial and the technical sides. It was a fun job for me since I was exposed to planning and implementing new processes and strategies. After that, I went back to working at a financial firm, and that’s when I realized I like working cross-functionally rather than being siloed. So I went on the job hunt, found Datacubed, and the rest is history.

What do you like most about your job at Datacubed Health?
What I like most about my job overall is sharing my expertise in the field with my team members and sharing my knowledge about our current platforms while laying the groundwork for all projects we have going on. I learn something new almost every day when dealing with several technical and non-technical challenges. Our product Linkt is a very complex application from a technology perspective with several different components synchronously interacting with each other. Being the go-to person for things whenever someone needs something is something that I am most proud of.

After asking work-related questions with Manny, we asked him more personal/fun-related questions.

What motivates you to wake up and work every day?
For me, it’s my team and the relationships that I have built here at Datacubed that motivate me to wake up and work every day. I honestly have such a talented group of people that I work with, and they make working fun. Some of my dearest friends are people I have met while working here, so it’s a nice feeling knowing that you have excellent working relationships and friendships when you’re at work. I’d also like to piggyback off that and say that now being in a position where the decisions I make may affect my team and users of our platform really motivates me always to give 100%, no matter how I am feeling that day – good or bad.

What is something that most people don’t know about you?
I sleep better after drinking coffee at night. And yes, I finally made the switch to getting a Kindle. It’s worth it; you should do it too.

Could you please share a quote or motto that you live by that could also inspire others?
Oh wow, I honestly have so many of them. Some of my favorite ones are “humble don’t stumble,” “If you study to know the truth, have no opinions,” and “Be the change that you wish to see in the world.” Those are some of my favorite quotes that I live by every day.

We simply can’t thank Manny enough for his outstanding contributions to our company over the past two years, and we’re so lucky to have him as part of our Datacubed Health family. Be on the lookout for more Employee Spotlight features soon to learn more about the incredible people who work here.
